To change the OS/2 configuration on a computer running
Windows 2000 with a separate OS/2 partition
- While running
Windows 2000 Professional, start an OS/2 text editor in a window by clicking Start,
clicking Run, typing the file path and the name of the OS/2 text
editor in the window, and then clicking OK.
- Open the Config.sys
file in the OS/2 text editor. The Config.sys file is located in the root
directory of the hard drive.
Windows 2000 Professional retrieves the
configuration information from the registry and stores it in a temporary file.
- Edit the configuration
information as required to achieve the desired results.
- Save and close the
file in the OS/2 text editor.
- Exit the text editor.
Windows 2000 Professional stores the new
information in the registry.
- Log off
Windows 2000 Professional and restart your computer. To restart
your computer, click Start, click Shut Down, and then
click Restart.
Notes
- To specify a path,
type the drive letter followed by a colon (:) and a backslash (\), type
the names of the folders and subfolders that contain the file,
separating each name with a backslash, and then type the name of the
file or folder you want to open.

OS/2 manual for more information on using the OS/2 operating system and
text editor.
To specify the default operating system for startup
- Open System in
Control Panel.
- On the Advanced
tab, click Startup and Recovery.
- Under System
startup, in the Default operating system list, click the
operating system you want to start if you do not select one from the list
displayed during startup.
- In the Display list
of operating systems for box, type the number of seconds the list
should be displayed before the default operating system starts
automatically.
