E-mail Programs and Features

  • E-mail Programs:      An e-mail program lets you send, receive and manage your messages. A few examples are:

    • Outlook Express (Microsoft)

    • Netscape Messenger

    • Endura

  • E-mail Features:

    • Reply to a message: You can reply to a message to answer questions or supply additional information. When you send a reply, make sure you include part of the original message. This is called quoting. Quoting helps the reader identify which message you are referring to.

    • Forward a message: When you receive a message, you may think of someone else who would be interested in reading the message. E-mail programs let you send a copy of the message, with your comments, to another person.

    • Delete a message: You can delete messages you no longer need. This prevents mail from accumulating in you mail box and taking up valuable space.

    • Store messages: You can store important messages so you can review them again later. E-mail programs let you create folders to organize all you stored messages.

    • Print a message: You can print a message to produce a paper copy (known as a hardcopy).
