Using Smart Objects in MS-Publisher 2000

What is a smart object?

A smart object is an element of a publication - such as a logo, coupon, ad, or calendar - that has a wizard associated with it. Just as you can use wizards to change publications that you select from the Catalog, you can use a smart object wizard to change these special publication elements.

Many publications that you select from the Catalog contain smart objects. You can also insert smart objects into a publication from the Design Gallery.

To open the smart object wizard, click the wizard button on the smart object.

Change a smart object

  1. On the smart object, click the wizard button.
  2. If only one question appears, answer it.
-Or- If a list of options appears in the top wizard pane, click an option, and then answer the question in the bottom wizard pane.
  3. Click anywhere in the publication to close the wizard.
