Using Sidebars in MS-Publisher 2000

What's a sidebar?

A sidebar contains information that isn't vital to understanding the main text, but adds interest or additional information. ("A" below)
"A"
It's best to put the sidebar within a page or two of the related text. Use the same font and size as the body text uses, or use the same font the caption uses, but in a larger size.

Add a Publisher-designed object from the Design Gallery to your publication
  1. On the Objects toolbar, click Design Gallery Object.
  2. Click the Objects by Category or the Objects by Design tab.
  3. Under Categories, click a category or design set to select it. The objects within the category or design set appear in the right pane.
  4. In the right pane, double-click the object you want. The object is inserted into your publication.

You can also:

Import Design Gallery objects from another publication

Create a sidebar from scratch
  1. Create a text frame where you want the sidebar.
  2. Type the text.
  3. Change the font and font size, if you want.
  4. Add shading to the text frame, if you want.
  5. Add a border around the frame, if you want.
  6. If you've added pictures or shapes to the sidebar, group the text frame and all objects in the sidebar so they can be moved together as a single object.
