Microsoft Publisher 2000 Lessons

Defining MS Publisher Software

  • Create Professional Publications
    •       Publisher comes with a catalog that lets you choose the type of publication you want to design, helps you decide on its appearance, and then suggests text and graphic image placement to complete the publication. The Quick Publication Wizard creates complete publications that you can modify easily to meet your specific needs.

  • Use Clip Art
    •      Artwork not only makes any publication appear more vibrant and interesting, but also helps explain your ideas. Publisher comes with more than 10,000 pieces of artwork that can be incorporated into your publications. In addition, any other personal illustrations and photographs can be imported into the Clip Gallery (the artwork organizer), with a scanner or from the Web.

  • Create Logos
    •       Most organizations want a special symbol, shape or color --- or combination of these -- to attach a recognizable graphic to their name. This distinctive shape, called a logo, can be created using Publisher's Logo Wizard or by designing your own artwork and text.

  • Make Your Work Look Consistant
    •       Publisher has many tools to help you create consistant publications that have similar design elements. Use Design sets to create different types of stylized publications. When creating work from scratch, you might, for example, want to have an information box at the lower-left corner on the back page of all Pete's T.V. flyers. Using rules and layout guides, you can create grids to help position graphics and text on a page. You can save a publicatiion as a template, a special publication that serves as a master for other publicatiions.

  • Work With Multiple Pages
    •       Publisher makes it easy to work with multipage publications. Pages can be added, deleted, and moved within the publication. Text that continues on more than one page is connected and flows logically between pages.

  • Emphasize Special Text
    •       Any publication looks boring if all the text looks the same, so you should use text styles to express different meanings and convey messages. Use a pull quote to set a short statement off to the side, and a sidebar to make an important story stand out and grab a reader's attention.

  • Publish On The Internet
    •       Publisher can be used to create Web pages, using the Web Site Wizard. The Web Site Wizard makes it easy to include links and graphics. Page backgrounds and animated GIFs add color and motion to your pages. A Web Publishing Wizard helps you make your Web site available to a local network drive or company intranet.
